Constructed in 1913, Charles Christian Hook of Charlotte, North Carolina, designed the depot as a combination passenger station and freight warehouse for the Piedmont & Northern Railway, later used by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, Seaboard System Railroad and finally CSX Transportation, before facing potential demolition in 1984. Saved from the wrecking ball by Greenville County Redevelopment

Authority, it was finally sold to Station One Partnership in 1987 and redeveloped as retail and office space. Fast forward to 2017... Letchworth Properties, LLC purchased the Historic Greer Depot with the hope of fully restoring it to its original grandeur. The building now serves as the General and Administrative offices of Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation, Greenville & Western Railway Company, LLC, Aiken Railway Company, LLC and Letchworth Properties, LLC; and with the conversion of the former warehouse space now complete, a new Event Venue and Meeting Space was opened August 5, 2021.

We got married in September of 2023, and our experience with both Historic Greer Depot and Joni Lever was amazing from start to finish. The venue was absolutely beautiful-exactly what we had envisioned for our big day. Joni was professional, responsive, and made the entire planning process feel so much less stressful. She kept us informed every step of the way and ensured everything went smoothly on the day of. We're so grateful for how everything turned out and would highly recommend both Historic Greer Depot and Joni to any future couple.

Every time we pull into the parking lot, it’s as though the hands of time spin backwards and a sense of calm settles over us. We are so fortunate to still be enjoying the architectural beauty of this special place 112 years after it was built. While James Buchanan Duke likely never foresaw what the future would look like for Historic Greer Depot, we’re pretty sure he’d be pleased. ❤️
