I am on a mission with a clear goal in mind: to gather a dedicated group of 10 to 20 people who are serious about helping the youth of Greenville, MS, and the surrounding areas. We often say that kids need to stay in a child's place, but what does that even mean in today’s world? Our children don’t have access to half the opportunities we had when growing up.

We had Big Momma using her spare change to send us to the teapot house or local corner store. We had our mothers working two jobs to keep us engaged in activities. We had brothers, uncles, etc. stepping up to fill gaps. We had places like the Boys and Girls Club, Rollerworld, and Girl Scouts (and I'm proud to be leading the effort to restore that pride in Greenville). We had programs like Sadd & Pride Club, dance groups, and teachers who took the extra step to mentor us. We had a supportive community—a village, if you will.

Our kids deserve the same support and opportunities. I cannot do this alone, but I am committed to giving it my all because I have children who are back in this community. I refuse to be part of the crowd that complains when I can be part of the solution! While I wear many hats, each role receives my undivided attention and full dedication.

You can even turn it into a fun scavenger hunt to increase their problem-solving skills and teach them about the world around them.
