The high is 80 degrees today which is confusing because, summer? Are you here?

This pic was from last July when I was brave enough to put fresh flowers in this Jasmine-covered arch, in the middle of the afternoon, in the middle of summer 🤣

I was SHOCKED that most of these were still Spritely and not wilted when we went back to strike the ceremony space!

If you’re new here, HEY 👋

You may not know that I was previously a middle school teacher. I taught 7th grade for 6 years here in Greenville County and 8th grade in Charleston for 1 year! I’ve subbed on and off for my friends that still teach for the past 2 years.

My heart is with my kids. The easiest part of teaching was always the kids. I even got my masters in STEAM from Clemson! Ya girl is well-educated *hair flip*

I was honored to be invited to participate in their huge career fair this year just as a guest 😭

I feel like I had a slight advantage when it came to knowing how to get them to participate in my game…Takis 🤣

I had the kids guess the names of flowers to win big bags of their favorite thing ever 🙄 and don’t worry, for the kids who didn’t want Takis, I brought flower Lego sets 😉

2025 is year #3 for The Happy Hydrangea!

We’re still learning, growing, practicing, and being creative when we can!

A goal of mine this year is to STOP undervaluing myself and how much time & effort I spend on everything in life but especially my florals.

I have a ton of homework on my plate that needs to be done with my brand, website, etc all while the same hustle & bustle is loud in my ear!

I’m so proud of my “little” business and all I’ve accomplished in years past. Hell, I’m proud of myself for what I’ve accomplished since January!

Say a prayer for all the weddings and events lined up this year (even though we’ve already had several) as I try to do better managing my time, my expectations, and the craft!

THANKS TO ALL THAT ARE KIND & SUPPORTIVE! My loyal, patient, and beautiful clients that sing my praises and constantly recommend me to others…I wish my words would encompass my appreciation!

This group of Kindergarteners are starting a big project where they will host their very own flower market and sell their own bouquets!

I’m so impressed by their teacher, , who is aligning their math standards to creating floral arrangements! What a COOL project!

We talked about how to prepare flowers, cutting them to get the right height, how to spread out your colors, and how to calculate how much an arrangement cost by assigning a coin value to each stem!

AND LET ME SAY: after teaching middle school for so long I wasn’t sure what to expect out of kindergarteners but when I first started introducing myself, one of the girls stopped me and said, “you look beautiful today” 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Y’ALL!

I can only hope to be loved and celebrated half as much as these people I had the honor to do funeral flowers for.

While the occasion may be sorrowful, I try to turn my focus to the gathering of loved ones and rejoicing that all their Earthly pain is gone!
