❤️ The Story Behind the Wedding That Started It All

A few days ago, I shared photos from my daughter and son-in-law’s wedding as they celebrated 15 years of marriage.

Today, I’m sharing the story behind those photos.

What most people don’t realize is that before there was The Barn at Cedar Grove, there was simply a bride with a vision the rest of us couldn’t quite see yet. At the time, the barn had a gravel floor, no permanent restrooms, no electrical service, and a whole lot of work ahead of us.

Looking back now, I still don’t know how she convinced us all.

This blog takes a trip back to those early days, sharing photos from before the renovations, during the transformation, and from the very first wedding ever held on our property. Along the way are stories about family, friendship, hard work, a few muscle cars, and the people who helped make it all happen.

Most of all, it’s a chance to give credit to the bride whose wedding day started a journey none of us could have imagined fifteen years ago.

Jaylee & Bailey’s wedding day candid highlights 🤍

Guests arrived by golf cart, highlighted their favorite Bible and made their way to the wedding ceremony in the woods. The sweetest twin flower girls and tiniest cowboy ring bearer you ever did see had everyone smiling from ear to ear.

Surrounded by dear friends and family, Jaylee and Bailey exchanged vows in a ceremony filled with prayer, love, and heartfelt moments. Afterward, everyone gathered for good food, great conversation, and plenty of dancing as they celebrated these two and the life they’re building together.

A beautiful day filled with faith, family, friendship, and so much love.

Happy 15th Anniversary to my daughter and son-in-law ❤️

Fifteen years ago today, they stood surrounded by family, friends, four little children, and a whole lot of love.

Looking through these photos today brings back so many memories. One of my favorites is of the three youngest children giggling as they left the ceremony. I can still hear those giggles if I close my eyes. The oldest proudly stood beside his dad as a groomsman.

Those little ones are all grown now. Another son joined the family along the way. The years have brought graduations, grandchildren, celebrations, challenges, laughter, tears, and countless memories that none of us could have imagined on that day.

As I look through these photos, I’m reminded how quickly time passes. Some of us have a little more gray hair now. Some of the people we celebrated with that day are no longer with us. What seemed like an ordinary moment then has become something priceless now.

That’s why photographs matter.

They help us hold on to the people, the moments, and the memories that become more precious with every passing year.

Today I’m not just celebrating a wedding day. I’m celebrating fifteen years of marriage, a beautiful family, and a life built together.

And yes, I’m also grateful for the young bride who somehow convinced the rest of us that an old to***co barn could be the perfect place to begin that journey.

Happy Anniversary. We love you both. ❤️

Ashley & Gabe chose a Minimony at The Barn at Cedar Grove, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Their day included a beautiful ceremony, a meal, cake and desserts by Sweets & Eats, and even time for a few friendly games of co****le, giant Jenga, and tic-tac-toe.

A Thursday afternoon, the people who matter most, and two people excited to finally say “I do.”

Ashley & Gabe didn’t need a packed guest list to fill the day with love. Their closest family and friends gathered in our little corner of Kentucky to witness the beginning of a new chapter, and it was beautiful from start to finish.
