I would be remiss if I didn't shout out the ones who helped mold my career and business.
The one who really helped me hone in on my skills, the art of event and portrait photography, and the one who taught me the business side this field...my college mentor Howard Gaither. I met him at a career and internship fair. I got there at the tail end of the event and most businesses had already picked their students, but it was ordained and I found my match when I got to his table. During that time i still was aiming to be a reporter and was hoping to get an internship with a tv station. But God had other plans. We connected instantly, and low and behold I was right where I needed to be. I modeled my business after his, Howard Gaither Photography, and the rest was history!
I also want to shout out my other mentor Sam Hamlin who is one of the reason my business is so versatile. I grew my skills in shooting and editing video amongst other skills while in the journalism program at North Carolina Agricultural And Technical University which is an AMAZING program by the way! But when I interned with his company, Temvideo Sportstv, he taught me live action and how to be able to move and shake and think on the fly while staying focused and providing great quality. During this internship we set up the media and sound for sports event, live shows, and other large events and I gained very valuable experience on the production side, working and directing live multi-camera shoots, directing, and producing shows and running live graphics and sound effects. He also taught me what I know about audio/audio boards.
Both of these men took me under their wing, welcomed me into their family, and are still to this day like family to me. Both also gave me jobs after college. What they have done for me is invaluable. They are a big reason why my business has lasted for 14 years and in two different states.
Lastly, I want to thank my cousin Aeshia DeVore Branch of Pretty Girls Sweat who gave me an internship with TD Radio, Kenneth Ken Devanney and Caroline Jones for all they taught me about TV and editing at the Aggie Jomc Dept, Ezinma D'Capricorn and D Cherie Picz who taught me the art of radio and marketing, and DeWayne Wickham and Tim Reed and New Millinneum Studios who chose me as 1 of just 3 from my department and gave me the opportunity to be apart of a team who shot a documentary in Cuba and taught me that skill! All of these things helped mold by business and the services I offer.
CAN'T SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH! Yal hold a huge place in my heart! AGGIE PRIDE!
