To experience great loss, you must first love deeply. Twenty-two days ago, I became a mother, and today I lost my own sweet mom after her long battle with cancer. I am forever grateful that I was able to celebrate becoming a mom with her by my side. She was my biggest supporter in everything I did. If I ever needed help, she was there—without hesitation.
While I grieve her passing, I thank God that her pain is finally gone. Most days you never would have known she was dealing with the side effects of chemo, medications, or cancer. She pushed through it all to be present with us and for us. She truly was the strongest woman I have ever known.
Someone once said that a person dies twice: once when they physically pass, and again when people stop speaking about them. If you knew my mom, please keep talking about her. Share your stories. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy, and I would love to hear every part of it.

Tonight was my last event as IIDA Triad City Center Director! I love looking back seeing the progress this city center has experienced. Next month, I get to hand it off two amazing co-directors who I know will continue to grow the city center. It definitely was not an easy position to roll into, but I am thankful for the growth I experienced because of it. Here’s to the next journey! ✨ (slide to enjoy some doghouse photos)
