What a difference! 🐴✨

We’re excited to share that the Outside Arena project at the Putnam County Fairgrounds is officially complete!

This major upgrade was made possible by two things: the incredible success of our first York Chevrolet Buick GMC Truck, Inc. Rodney Atkins concert and the dedicated fundraising efforts of the Horse and Pony Club. Because of that support, we were able to completely transform the arena for our equine exhibitors and the community.

Here’s what was done:

• Removed the top 8 inches of the old surface

• Built a new compacted base that is properly sloped to the east for better drainage

• Installed a 50/50 clay and sand footing for a safer, more consistent riding surface

• Added a French drain on the east side that carries water past the pull strip

This eliminates the long-standing problems of water standing in the arena, washing out the drive and flooding into the horse barns.

A huge thank you to Hoosier Earthworks LLC for doing excellent work on this project.

We also want to give a big shoutout to every sponsor who helped make the Rodney Atkins concert such a success, and to all of the fans who came out and supported it. Your support is already making a real difference on the fairgrounds, and we’re looking forward to another great concert next year so we can keep tackling more major improvements.

Thank you to everyone in the community who continues to support the Putnam County Fairgrounds. We’re committed to making this one of the best fairgrounds around, and projects like this are just the beginning.

A big thank you to the Putnam County Master Gardeners Association for continuing to make the Fairgrounds look beautiful year-round! 🌸🌿

The new bed on the west side of Harris Hall is already a great addition — expanding the display garden by 80 feet and setting the stage for daylilies, herbs, and native plants that will add even more color and interest to the entrance of the grounds.

We truly appreciate the time, effort, and care the Master Gardeners put into keeping the Fairgrounds looking its best for everyone who visits. Your work makes a difference every single day!

The outside arena project is officially underway. 🚧

This has been talked about for years, and today it started to become real. Hoosier Earthworks LLC is on site getting the work started. 🚜

This project was made possible by the success of the first annual Putnam County Fair Concert and fundraising efforts of the horse and pony club.

The vision was simple: bring an event to the fair that could make money, then put that money back into a major project for the grounds. That is exactly what we are doing. 🎟️➡️🏟️

A special thank you to our title concert sponsor, York Chevrolet Buick GMC Truck, Inc., and to every sponsor who believed in the vision and backed us. 🙌 Thank you to every fan who bought a ticket. We truly could not have done this without you.

Thank you to the volunteers, the Fair Board, and RD Productions, LLC for the hard work that made the concert a great experience. 👏

It takes all of us. We are grateful, and we are already looking forward to next year’s fair and concert. 🎉

Did you hear?? There is a Renaissance Faire coming to the Putnam County Fairgrounds THIS WEEKEND! 👀🎉

Not next month. Not “someday.” Saturday and Sunday. October 3rd and 4th. 9 AM to 6 PM. 🗓️⚔️ The first one West Central Indiana has ever had, and it is landing right here in Greencastle. 🌽👑

What you’re walking into:

⚔️ Knights actually fighting with live steel
🏹 Somebody shooting a bow from horseback
🔥 A fire show
🎶 A band
🍖 Tavern food, BBQ and ice cream with “dragon” in the name
🛍️ Artisans who will happily take your gold

Come in a cloak. 🧥 Come in a hoodie. Come in whatever you wore to Rural King. The realm does not have a dress code, and the knights are busy. 😅🛡️

Tickets are $20 a person. 🎟️ Kids 5 and under get in free, which is the correct ruling. 👶✨ Both days are $30, because one day of turkey-leg diplomacy is not enough. 🦃

Every can, bag, and bottle in that trailer is headed to local food banks and the people who need it.

It is officially the first day of Autumn which means FALL FESTIVITIES! 🍂🎃👻

Join Purdue Extension-Putnam County November 1 from 4-6 pm for their second annual 4-H Fall Carnival!

New this year, they have some food and drink vendors joining the fun!

Hogg Wild BBQ
W**e and Wagyu

During this event there will be various games, obstacle course bounce house, shoot and score connect 4, a small petting zoo, and more!

Have a child in the 3rd grade or older????

This will be a great time to get signed up for the 2026-2027 4-H program year, connect with club leaders and superintendents, and gather information about the 4-H program in Putnam County.
