I’ve known this family for over a decade — long enough that they treat me like one of their own.. When the kids came home for the holidays, they surprised mom with an in-home cooking class they could all do together.

Cooking hasn’t always been easy for them — having gluten-free, vegan, and carnivore preferences all at the same table —

The family learned three approachable recipes, knife skills, yes, even the almighty onion, practical roasting tips, plating and serving and most importantly… time together. The chance for a family to cook side-by-side despite different dietary needs and living miles from eachother.

We cooked, they learned, we laughed, Mom even set the table with the fancy China. Dad graced us with a blessing before we ate.

There’s talk of turning the cooking class into an annual tradition — adding new recipes each year and building their family cookbook over time.

This is what it’s all about for us...

We developed this recipe specially for the butcher shop, as Drew requested "Cowboy Soup" This soup is packed with hearty beef, local Timeless Food black butte chickpeas, Big Sky Fungi & Herb mushrooms, potatoes, sweet corn, green beans and pepperoncini peppers in a savory tomato infused broth. Stop in to Central Avenue Meats to try a complementary sample on Friday evening!
