Our Story:

Originally a revered Grand Tsubaki Shinto shrine (Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsubaki_Grand_Shrine_of_America) , it is now converted into an Zen style garden and renamed as Saiuen Gardens 載羽園.

The word "Saiuen" is formed of three kanji:

載– Sai– to carry, to hold

羽 – U / Yu – feather

園– En – garden

Saiuen's name comes from a quote from the philosopher Zhuangzi: 福輕乎羽，莫之知載

"Happiness is as light as the feather , but only a few know how to hold it. Misfortunes are heavier than the earth, but only a few know how to let it go."
