Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss has proclaimed Saturday, May 20, as Magic Day.

Proclamation is signed by Mayor Bliss and reads as follows:

WHEREAS, Michigan has nine magic clubs affiliated with the 12,000-member International Brotherhood of Magicians, including in Grand Rapids; and

WHEREAS, Michigan Magic Day is a gathering of Michigan magi and those from neighboring states who are performers of the magical arts; and

WHEREAS, these magicians are hobbyists, historians and collectors - and they range in age from youth to senior citizens; and

WHEREAS, this gathering of amateurs and professionals maximizes opportunities to celebrate fellowship and camaraderie in the magic community as well as learn through dealers, lectures and other magic sessions; and

WHEREAS, this gathering enhances the magicians' relationship with the community by inviting the public to attend the evening stage show;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rosalynn Bliss, Mayor of the City of Grand Rapids, do hereby proclaim May 20, 2017, as Magic Day in Grand Rapids and encourage all citizens to join in celebrating these magicians and all that they bring to our community.
