Join artist and educator Lisa Lee Adams in Grand Lake for Vignettes, Verve, Voilà! A playful day of experimental watercolor, mixed-media collage, creative thinking, and seeing what happens when you loosen the rules a little.

No artistic experience required. Beginners are welcome. Experienced artists are welcome. Curiosity is highly encouraged!

On September 16, 2026, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Grand County Communications Center received a report of an assault that had just occurred at the Grand Lake Community Center, located at 301 Marina Drive in the Town of Grand Lake.

The suspect reportedly left the area before Deputies arrived. Grand County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, assisted by Rocky Mountain National Park Rangers and a Sheriff’s Office K9 team, searched the surrounding area. The suspect was located and taken into custody at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park.
According to the preliminary investigation, the victim arrived at the community center for a morning workout and encountered an individual and his dog sleeping in an unauthorized area of the building. A physical confrontation occurred after the victim told the individual that sleeping in that area was not permitted. The victim sustained injuries during the incident.

Deputies arrested Nicholas Torok, 50, of Ontario, Canada. Torok was transported to the Grand County Jail and booked on the following criminal charges:

Third-Degree Assault, a class 1 misdemeanor, C.R.S. § 18-3-204
Crime Against an At-Risk Adult, a class 6 felony, C.R.S. § 18-6.5-103

“While no community is entirely immune from crime, residents and visitors can be confident that public safety remains a top priority,” Grand Lake Town Manager Steve Kudron said. "We are grateful for the swift and efficient response from the Grand County Sheriff's Office and Rocky Mountain National Park and rest assured our community is in good hands."

These charges are only accusations based on probable cause, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

With the filing of this case, any additional inquiries should be directed to the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
