Two Heart Ranch

Two Heart Ranch Wedding and Event venue located on an active farm and ranch in Western Colorado We are Two Heart Ranch. The ranch is located at the base of the Mesa.

Located in the heart of Western Colorado, we have been a family owned ranch since 1962. In the early days the family ranch, which ran brands of "Cross Bar Cross" and "Lazy TM", consisted of over 9,000 deeded acres and ran over 1,400 head of Hereford cows from the Uncompahgre Plateau to the Grand Mesa. With the ebb and flow of the farming and ranching industry in western Colorado over the last 50 y

ears, the family have ventured into many different businesses. In 1995 the uncles converted the big red barn into The Hanging W Chuckwagon. This western themed supper and show ran successfully from 1995-2006. In 2015 Jason and Allison, the 4th generation to work the ranch, purchased the premises from one of the uncles with the intention of revitalizing the property for use as an event center, catering to those looking for a venue on a working ranch and farm. The ranch raises all kinds of livestock, specializing in Charolais Cattle. We raise alfalfa as a forage crop and are surrounded by neighbors and cousins who also farm and ranch. Our facilities consist of a large red barn with capacity for 215 people as well as 10 acres of wooded and open spaces that event goers will have private access to. Kannah Creek runs through the middle of the property and is home to abundant wildlife such as pheasant and quail along with our resident herds of pronghorn antelope and mule deer, with elk making their way into our hay fields in late summer and fall. For those looking to rent Two Heart Ranch for their event, we offer a large red "D" style barn, a covered patio to the south, tables, chairs, and outdoor tents. The facility has electricity and water, along with restroom facilities for both cowgirls and cowboys. We also have a warming/serving kitchen with dishwashing facilities and refrigeration. All of our facilities are ADA compliant. Please feel free to contact us via email if you have any questions or would like to tour the facilities.

We have been busy at the ranch planting trees this spring! With lots of help we have planted 23 trees of all kinds so far, with plans to do several more as we focus on different areas of landscaping. The area where we have been planting is smack dab in the middle of where corrals and livestock pens were located for over 70 years. While digging holes for the trees we found lots of interesting "artifacts" Several horse shoes, lots of baling wire, and even half of a pair of shears that were probably used to trim cows ears so that their tag number could be easily read. We look forward to these trees growing tall and adding shade and atmosphere to Two Heart Ranch for the coming years!

The red barn in the 1940's. This view is from Kannah Creek road looking south east across the hay fields. In this photograph the barn is still sporting the main ranch brand, cross bar cross. The ranch was home to over 1400 mama cows during the winter. Notice the piles of loose hay on the left (east) side of the barn. Those hay stacks measure over 40 ft tall! It takes a LOT of hay to get over a thousand cows through a winter. At the time this photo was taken, only two homes had been built on the ranch, both of them by the original homesteaders, the Ternahan family.

The big Red Barn getting a new coat of paint several decades ago. This barn was built in 1907 with a small addition added to the west end in 1911. For over 100 years this barn has stood the test of time, holding hay for livestock in the immense hay loft and sheltering livestock in the lower portion. This grand barn is where the main indoor festivities for Two Heart Ranch are held.

The original homestead home on the ranch. Homesteaded in the 1880's by the Ternahan family, this home was built circa 1901. Ternahan's later built the big red barn that houses the main facilities for Two Heart Ranch. John Ternahan, along with son and grandson William and Jim, ran cows in Kannah Creek under the brand +-+ (cross bar cross) for several decades.

This last week we were approved by Mesa County for our conditional use permit. We are excited to get the big red barn and surrounding grounds into shape for the upcoming wedding and event season!
