This weekend, Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service had the honor of providing the music and sound for the surprise birthday party of the man himself, Teddy of Teddy Spaghettis in Norton Shores! From opening with vintage Italian music (Dean, Tony, & Francis Albert) to Teddy entering the party to the "Superbowl Shuffle" (an ode to his beloved Chicago Bears), and wrapping up with a dance party for our youngest attendees, it was a great evening. The highlight was the fashion show featuring family and friends, dressing up as Teddy in his various guises over the years.

I cannot say enough good things about Teddy's team. They are a warm and hardworking group of people who pulled off a wonderful night for a wonderful guy. Thank you for letting me be a part of your celebration!

And the food was great!

Today (Sunday, February 22), Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service performed for the Worsley wedding! The staff and facility at Port 393 in Holland provided a great atmosphere in which to celebrate. From the ceremony to speeches, first dance to "The Cupid Shuffle," we take pride in tailoring the music and presentation to each couple. A great day was had by this young family, and their son was the STAR of the show (THAT KID HAS GREAT HAIR!)

This past Saturday, I had the honor of performing at the Newsted wedding at Fricano's Muskegon Lake Fricano's Muskegon Lake . The 11th Event of the 2025 Celebration Season for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service was the Gifford Wedding on Saturday, September 6.

From orchestrating a wedding ceremony (filled with unique personal touches) in the picturesque Generation Pines, to a vibrant reception at Posh Place (our playlist ranged from Soulja Boy to Ozzy Osbourne), it was a day as distinctive as the couple we were honoring.

Working with the Giffords was a poignant reminder of why I established Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service—meeting wonderful people with a compelling story, who desired a more intimate and unique wedding. It was truly a blessing to be part of their special day.

The busiest and biggest year yet for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service continued with two parties and a vow renewal over the last few weeks.

First, we helped celebrate Carey's 50th Birthday with a party filled with family, friends, '90s R&B, and even a trip to Shakedown Street for the "Disco Deadheads" in attendance.

Next was a vow renewal ceremony for Josh & Tonya on the 18th Hole of Oak Ridge Golf Club. It was an honor to write and perform a customized ceremony for friends I have known for many years.

Lastly, for the second year in a row, the residents of Eastpointe RV Park in Grand Haven had us back to celebrate summer with party tunes, Costco Margaritas, and "Blue Drank!" Plus, we were able to celebrate the well-earned retirement of our good friend Diane! We plan on returning in 2026!

It was a busy weekend for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service - Friday found us entertaining the folks at the Grand Haven Elks Lodge during the Coast Guard Festival - while Saturday gave us the chance to provide the soundtrack for the backyard wedding of the Woltjers out in some beautiful country. Whether it’s a wedding (we are ordained and can perform the service as well as play the music), a birthday party or any kind of celebration-the combination of sound, service and the personality and experience of Owner and 26 year radio veteran Jesse Bruce makes Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service THE choice for your special day!

It has been a busy couple of weeks for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service!

June 14th found us providing the soundscape for the wedding of Cody & Tess in Twin Lake. It was the first-ever wedding held at the Pickers Patch, and Nichole Vanderwall did a fantastic job of showcasing her eclectic business as an ideal wedding location.

On June 21st, the wedding of Braxton & Miles was a lively (and windy) occasion in Crockery Township. There was dancing, there was fellowship, and most importantly...love.

June 22nd found us entertaining Miss Juno and her friends for the most awesome birthday party an 8-year-old ever had (lots of "Pink Pony Club & a rousing game of "Simon Says," led by Juno herself!) Thank you to Kassidy Taylor for doing the legwork and setting up a great day for great kids.

The 2025 schedule is filling up, but we still have of openings available and we are already booking for next year.

Over the weekend, Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service continued the 2025 season by providing the entertainment for the Barber wedding reception.

The couple celebrated among family and friends at the VFW Post 7729 in Muskegon (the one with the Army tank out front, it's a landmark you know!) Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service is the very best at playing a great mix of dance music for a lively crowd!

We thank Mr. & Mrs. Barber for allowing us to be a part of the most important day of their lives. They are a great couple whose kindness and generosity were much appreciated.

The 2025 schedule is filling up, but we still have plenty of openings available and we are already booking for next year.
