**A La Bella Luna Love Story**

In the spring of 2023, on March 22nd—my son’s birthday—the stars aligned for Cyndi and Derek as they finally met in person.

Who are they? Cyndi and Derek. My husband and I first crossed paths with Derek in January 2022. He was touring La Bella Luna on behalf of his daughter, Stefani, who had chosen this enchanting venue for her upcoming wedding. Each time payments were due, Derek would ride up on his Harley, and we would share friendly conversations, gradually forging a bond. His genuine, easygoing nature and delightful sense of humor made him an instant friend. A veteran of the Army, Derek had courageously served in every conflict since Desert Storm, and we held deep admiration for his sacrifices.

As Stefani’s wedding day approached, I learned that Derek had become a single man. It saddened us to see our friend facing heartache, so my husband and I began inviting him to group gatherings and dinners. “Derek, let me know when you’re ready to date,” I encouraged him.

Enter Cyndi—an incredible woman I met through my work with the Granbury Optimist Club of Hood County. While planning our annual gala in early 2023, I connected with Cyndi, a bright, compassionate nurse with an impressive knowledge of hot rod engines. I was struck by her warmth and strength; she had faced the loss of her husband during Covid a couple of years earlier.

“I know a guy!” I exclaimed, intrigued by the idea of pairing her with Derek. Cyndi, however, was clear about her intentions: “I just want someone to do things with—not looking for a relationship or dating.” Mark said, “Be careful! She is good at this and you’ll end up married!” Cyndi laughed and said, “Nope! And if that ever happened, you will have to do the ceremony and reception at La Bella Luna!”

With her permission, I exchanged phone numbers with Derek. He echoed Cyndi’s sentiments, stating he was also seeking companionship without the pressure of a relationship. He just wanted a friend to get out and do things with.

Fast forward about two and a half years—my husband, an ordained minister, had the honor of marrying Cyndi and Derek at La Bella Luna. Their sweet, intimate ceremony brought tears to my eyes (and I’m not usually a crier).

Two months later, we celebrated their love at a beautiful reception at La Bella Luna. It was heartwarming to witness two remarkable individuals, once lonely, now finding profound happiness in each other. The intentional gratitude and love they showed one another was inspiring.

Ironically, my son, who shares the same March 22nd birthday and is a talented photographer, perfectly captured the beauty of their special day. 🤍 Ellington Photography
