This Friday, May 10th, The Granbury Cultural Arts Commission will host their popular Art Talk at the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural Event Center Concert Hall! This talk will feature the work of Covelle Jones!

Saddle up and get ready for the Granbury Founders Day Jubilee & Cook-Off Peoples Choice Cowboy Bean Competition! Sample an array of pinto recipes, from traditional recipes passed down through generations to a creative culinary twist.
After sampling all of them, cast your vote for YOUR favorite and help crown the ultimate champion of Founders Day Peoples Choice BEST BEANS!
Tasting kits available at 11am both Sat. & Sun. while the beans last. $5 for 2 or $3 for 1. Cook-off takes place at Dora Lee Langdon Cultural Event Center lawn.

Come have a great time celebrating on May 4th at the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural Event Center when Empire Realty Group LLC brings their Star Wars Celebration to the lawn! See the original post for details! And, May the 4th be with you!

One of the most beloved Star Wars character is Chewbacca who was played by former Granburian Peter Mayhew. To honor his legendary character we will all come together at 12:30 p.m. on May the 4th to let our Chewbacca roars be heard!

Until then....every Wednesday we will share Chewbacca facts and keep his hometown status legendary.

Today Fact...did you know that the Chewbacca character's eyes were actually created to be BLUE?! According to Wookiepedia (yes, you read that right!), while waiting to audition, Mayhew was studying various paintings of the proposed characters hanging in the audition office. At the end of the row was the painting for the Chewbacca character with a description that said, "Eight feet with blue eyes." And since his eyes were blue, that's how he chose what character to audition for. Ironically, he was not the first choice for the role, but after George Lucas saw his height, the part was his! The actor originally slotted for the part - David Prowse - was actually cast as Darth Vader. He was only 6 feet tall compared to Mayhew's 7 feet 3 inches.

Now CHEW on that fact of the day!
