Another successful Derby is recorded.
As I reflect on the events of the past week, I will never tire of the beauty of the pageantry leading up to the Run for Roses. I am very blessed to have had the privilege to witness this spectacular spectacle so many times from so many different vantage points.
This year, I watched from a balcony with a slight drizzle, the famous twin spires to my left, meeting many that had traveled miles to fulfill a dream. I said a little prayer as they made their way onto the track. Not to win, just for their safety on a horribly muddy track.
As the band played My Old Kentucky Home, I stood by my co-workers that have become so much more than work buddies over the years, and silently hummed the words to the tune that brings us all to our feet. It’s the best part of the day and rain can’t stop the nostalgic moment.
It was exciting to have a trifecta winner on my team standing next to me as we cheered them across the finish.
This is the Kentucky Derby and why they come from all over the world to see it.
Here’s a few of my favorite moments of the week.
