Still overseas, but these MWR karaoke nights are keeping the morale sky-high! 🎤🇺🇸
Everyone had such a blast at the last one—nonstop laughs, belting out tunes, and that feeling of home even far away. The crowd was all in, and it turned into one of those memories that’ll stick with me long after deployment.
So glad we’re making it a regular thing: every two weeks from here on out! More good vibes, more sing-alongs, more stories to tell.

A little bit about how Schmidt Head got its name… 🎤✨
in my early military days, I went to a class with my readiness NCO, SFC Shay We hit up a local spot in Johnston for some karaoke afterward. I was already planning to start this DJ/karaoke business but had zero name ideas.
So I asked him, ‘Hey, what are some good names for a DJ/karaoke gig?’ Without missing a beat—took him about 10 seconds—he goes, ‘Name it Schmidt Head.’
I laughed, thought it had a great ring to it, and boom—that’s how Schmidt Head Karaoke & DJ Services was born! Grateful for SFC. Shay’s quick wit and for all the fun nights it’s led to in Eastern Iowa.

Today we mourn the passing of Brad Arnold, the incredible voice and heart behind 3 Doors Down. At just 47, after a courageous fight against stage 4 kidney cancer, he passed peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his loving wife Jennifer and family. 💔
Brad’s music—songs like ‘Kryptonite,’ ‘Here Without You,’ and ‘When I’m Gone’—has been there for so many of us through tough times. His lyrics brought comfort, strength, and a sense of not being alone when life felt heavy. For many, those songs were more than just music; they were a reminder that hope and connection are possible even in the darkest moments.
We’re reminded again how much cancer sucks—it takes too many good people far too soon, leaving hearts broken and worlds a little quieter. But Brad’s faith shone through, and his music carried messages of resilience and belief that point us toward something greater.
We love you, God, for the gifts You give us in people like Brad, whose voice and spirit touched millions. May his legacy live on in every song that still lifts someone up today. Rest in peace, Brad. Your music will echo forever. 🙏🎸

Throwback to one of the most memorable nights at the VFW(The V)!
Stefan Hillesheim swung by after his band gig in Savanna to give karaoke a shot—and wow, his voice is unreal! 🔥 I was blown away (still am). Hope I get the chance to catch one of his live shows soon—he’s got that magic on stage.
Grateful for nights like that where great music and good people come together. Moments like these are why I love doing what I do with Schmidt Head Karaoke & DJ Services—bringing the vibes to events all over Eastern Iowa!
