Boettcher Mansion

Boettcher Mansion Jefferson County's Premier Historic Events Venue

The Boettcher Mansion provides a rare combination of historic authenticity and modern amenities from its secluded setting inside the Lookout Mountain Nature Preserve in Golden, CO, only a half-hour drive west of Denver. Built in 1917 as a summer home and seasonal hunting lodge for Charles Boettcher, the former “Lorraine Lodge” was donated to Jefferson County in the 1970s for public use and enjoyme

nt. In 1984, the Arts and Crafts estate was listed on the National Register of Historic Places External Link Icon and now serves as Jeffco’s premier historic events venue. A division within the Jefferson County Parks department, the Mansion is self-sustaining, supporting itself primarily from event fees. An impressive example of adaptive re-use, the one-time family residence is perfectly suited for all kinds of social gatherings, including weddings, receptions and commitment ceremonies, along with memorial services and other commemorative milestones. Carefully preserved and sensitively updated in 2005-07, this rustic yet polished architectural gem offers a stunning backdrop for conferences, dances, executive retreats, family reunions, film shoots, fundraisers, lectures, musical performances and trade shows…to name just a few of our ongoing functions.

✨ Volunteer of the Month ✨

Since joining us in 2022, Laura has been just what we needed —steadfast, thoughtful, and a true asset to the Boettcher Mansion team. From the beginning, she proved she was someone we could rely on without hesitation, and someone who could always brighten your day.

She is always willing to help out others when needed, and consistently goes above and beyond. Her tours for Boettcher Mansion visitors are not only rich in history, but also include thoughtful attention to the outdoor features of the property. Guests walk away informed and inspired thanks to her passion and dedication.

Thank you for everything you do to keep this place bright, you are so appreciated!

✨ Volunteer of the Month ✨

Steve has been a dedicated volunteer since March 2022. In fact, he was the very first person to sign up to volunteer at Boettcher Mansion! From day one, his commitment and enthusiasm have set a wonderful example for others.

Steve’s impact goes far beyond his regular volunteer duties. He has recruited others to join the volunteer team, showing how his passion is truly contagious. He regularly takes the plethora of cardboard boxes with him to recycle, steps in for additional volunteer shifts when needed, and is always willing to come in early! Steve gives extraordinary history tours by bringing the Mansion’s story to life with every guest, and always greets our visitors with a warm, welcoming smile. He also won the prestigious Aspen Award his first year of volunteering. This award is granted to one outstanding Jefferson County Parks & Open Space Volunteer each year.

This summer he expanded his volunteer reach by volunteering at the Lookout Mountain Nature Center, located next door to the Mansion. His reliability, kindness, and genuine love for what he does makes him an invaluable part of the volunteer team!

WOOD you believe it?

The Jefferson County Parks & Open Space Natural Resources Team has been busy clearing space for brand new EV charging stations in the Preserve’s parking lot. To prep for this eco-friendly upgrade, a few trees were carefully removed. The community then got to TREE-T themselves to free firewood from the logs they cut and left out, making sure nothing went to waste!

Stay tuned for updates on when the charging stations will be installed!
