A 1.2-million-pound locomotive sat parked at a county fairground for half a century.

Big Boy No. 4014 is the largest steam locomotive that still runs. Union Pacific built it in 1941 to haul freight over Utah's mountains. Only 25 were built. Only 8 survive.

For 51 years it just sat still at the Pomona fairgrounds in California. Union Pacific hauled it home to Wyoming and rebuilt it into a working machine again.

This year it crossed 14 states under its own steam.
