Calling all artists!

Brand Associates’ 53rd Annual National Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper is accepting entries from artists who work on paper — including collages, drawings, paintings, photography, prints, 3-dimensional works, and animated artworks created from drawings or prints.

Cash awards total more than $4,000, including a Juror’s Award. All accepted artworks will be included in a show at Brand Library’s Gallery and in both printed and online exhibition catalogs. We welcome artists at any point on their artistic journey — students, professionals, and hobbyists.

The first REEL ART program of 2025 is on Thursday, March 27 and will feature a screening of Edo Avant Garde, a film by Linda Hoaglund. The evening starts with a 6 p.m. tour of the Shoseian Tea House and Garden in Brand Park and moves to the Brand Recital Hall for a 7 pm screening of the film, which explores the connection between Edo Period (1603-1868) Art and the rise of 20th Century modern art.

Be prepared for a visual feast! Ms. Hoagland will join us for a discussion after the screening.

This event is free and open to the public. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you’ve patronized or enjoyed events at the extraordinary Brand Library but wondered about the facility’s history, take a tour this Saturday, March 1.

Art historian Dr. Valerie Taylor, Brand Associates Board member and former Highlights Tour docent at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, will share the fascinating story of the Brand family and “Miradero,” their historic home that is now Brand Library. Valerie will also share information about the renovation and historic restoration that took place between 2012 and 2014.

Spaces are limited, and the tours often reach capacity, so sign up today! The tours, like all Brand Associates events, are free.
