There’s something really special about bringing memories back to life ❤️

I had the honor of making my brother’s 40th birthday cake this year — and not just any cake… his absolute favorite from our childhood. Growing up in Chicago, our parents would always get us this beautiful fruit cake from Swedish Bakery. It was a staple at our birthdays, and somehow it made every celebration feel even more special.

Even though Swedish Bakery has been closed for years, the memories never left us. So I wanted to recreate that same cake — the look, the taste, the feeling — all of it.

Being able to make this for him meant more than I can explain. It wasn’t just a cake… it was a piece of our childhood, our family, and all those sweet moments we grew up with.

This sweet order was made to celebrate a beautiful little bean turning ONE — a milestone filled with love, laughter, and so many first memories. 🤍✨

Hi, I’m Ur, 35 (turning 36 soon!) and the heart behind DeUr Catering. I know I haven’t really gotten the chance to tell you who’s behind all the food, so here I am! I was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Glendale, Arizona in 2016. I recently got married in February, and my husband owns StrEat Gyro — together, we’re all about sharing good food and great flavors.

Cooking has always been my passion, and over time it’s become my way of bringing joy to others. I’m still a beginner with no formal experience, especially in making cakes, but I’m slowly perfecting them day by day. I love experimenting, adding my own twist to recipes, and making sure everything I cook is packed with flavor. DeUr Catering isn’t just about food, it’s about passion, growth, and creating meals that bring people together.

My niece has been obsessed with the Super Mario Brothers movie lately and asked me to make her a Princess Peach birthday cake. While I love cooking, baking is a whole different challenge—it’s more like science, where even small mistakes can mean starting over. That said, I’m really proud of how the cake turned out! It’s not perfect, but I’m happy with the result. I definitely need more practice with piping and frosting, but I’m learning. It was so much fun to make, and I really hope my niece loves it!
