Our Story
Welcome to Glendale Gardens. A unique wedding and event venue located in the heart of downtown Glendale, Kentucky. The property will host indoor and outdoor wedding and other events starting May of 2018. The former property of one of Glendale's well known alumni, the late Hardin “Sonny” Hatfield (11/19/1931 - 2/16/2011) features a beautiful backdrop among multiple cabins built in the 1800's that Sonny added to the property, a large pond with two fountains, a concrete and stone Koi pond full of beautiful fish, a stream flowing down the hill and more all surrounded by mature wooded area. Owners Wanda Edwards and her son Alan Ash along with family have worked diligently day and night since beginning Aug 2017. Wanda is from Cecilia Ky. Alan is from Glendale Ky. Alan & Marias dad, Alan Dean “Deanie” Ash (4/30/1934 - 1/16/2011) was born and raised in Glendale. He lived in the original house on this property. Deanie Ash and Sonny Hatfield were very good friends during childhood and throughout their lives.
Sonny ended up making this property his final home. Sonny did a tremendous amount of work adding log cabins to the property. Sonny built The Depot restaurant in Glendale. Sonny and James Sego built The Whistle Stop restaurant. Sonny placed all the log cabins in downtown Glendale. He built The Antique Mall in downtown Glendale. Sonny had a hand in most of the town of Glendale Kentucky as we know and love it today. He was a wonderful woodworker and toy collector, he hand carved many of his own priceless creations while sitting at his table inside the cabin. He was truly one of a kind and remarkable. Seeing this wonderful property sit and become dilapidated was very sad. It needed the love and attention that Sonny had put into it. Mom and I saw the beauty underneath it all and decided to purchase it. We wanted to try to fix it back up for everyone to enjoy for years to come. This place has consumed nearly a year of our lives and just about every dime we could scrape together. It is wonderful to finally see it come together. Through Mother, Father and Sons blood, sweat, and tears. Disagreements and arguments constantly testing their resolve, love and faith carried them through. Although we are not finished and still have a lot of work to do, its looking better. It may still be raining but we can see the rainbow. We could not have done this without the help of our loving and supportive family. We have a unique service in offering “Bride Rooms” two rooms for bridal party to hang out all day with personal bathroom to do all their preparing at one place. “Man Cave” room for groom and groomsmen with personal bathroom. “Family Cabin” for close family to hang out while waiting for wedding party. Each room is private and separated where no one will see one another, or if they want to, each room is connected by exit doors to wrap around porch.
