We had a wonderful evening hosting the Lynn Hustlers 4-H Club! The weather was perfect for discussing flower farming, exploring the flower fields, and enjoying some freezer pops!

I would like to thank Nora for sharing her county fair project titled “Part of a Flower Arrangement” with the group. I hope we inspired a few members to take flowers as a 4-H project!

A big thank you to the Lynn Hustler 4-H members for being such an enthusiastic tour group. We wish them the best of luck with their fair projects this summer!

We enjoyed hosting the Hutchinson High School Floriculture class at our farm! We shared our journey in flower farming, toured the flower fields, and saw some beautiful flowers in bloom! I truly appreciate their interest in flower farming and visiting our farm for this field trip. Thank you, Emily and students!

Is it Friday yet? I know it’s only Wednesday, but this week has been long. The extreme heat has forced us to focus on various other tasks…

✔️ Our ranunculus are starting to bloom! They don’t like the high temps, so we’ve been giving them an afternoon water drip to cool their soil.

✔️ We tackled much-needed weeding in the Lisianthus hoop before the day's heat. Thank you, ladies!

✔️ The peonies have grown tremendously fast in the heat, and their buds are also flourishing. We removed the tiny side buds, leaving one beautiful bud per stem.

✔️ We also water the outdoor plants during the day's heat to cool the fabric mat and keep the baby plants happy!

✔️We planted our first round of gladiolus bulbs because we’re confident the soil is warm enough!

✔️ I also threw in a few pumpkin seeds!

✔️And, of course, we enjoyed our fair share of freezie pops!

Asking Mother Nature to give us a gentle rain the next couple of days and to bring these temps back to normal!

I am incredibly grateful for the amazing support from these wonderful people! We have worked tirelessly together over the past few weeks, seeding, planting, weeding, and preparing for the upcoming season. Missing from the photo is the person who took it—my husband, Tim! Trust me, it takes many hands to make this flower farm happen. But what a great feeling to step back and see the flower fields starting to take shape!
