Be careful when distributing gratuities to staff. If you decide to tip the Staff tip them directly. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for Management to keep gratuities meant for hourly personnel for themselves.

If the Venue you are looking at or have booked is continually looking for employees...beware!! This is truly an indication of a poorly run organization. The type of organization you don't want to entrust with the ex*****on of your Special Day or Special Event!!! Don't be fooled by their exclamation "we are growing and need to add good people". Quite the contrary. Poor management has probably led to a significant decline in business resulting in a mass exodus of experienced employees!! My advice, "Buyer Beware".

Dan's Tip of The Day: It is extremely important to find out if the person selling you your Event, finalizing details and answering all your questions is the same person who is going to execute your event. The benefit of this is obvious. This person has been involved in the entire planning process unlike solely Day of Maitre D's who in most cases you have never met nor have had any previous contact with.
