There’s something about a wedding that unfolds more like an intimate dinner party than a production.

Layered lighting, guests lingering outside long after dinner, oysters at cocktail hour, candlelight, lounge seating that actually invites people to stay awhile, and an atmosphere that feels immersive from the moment guests arrive.

This celebration was designed to feel warm, editorial, and slightly transportive.  Somewhere between a garden party and an intimate private estate gathering.

We’re always drawn to celebrations that feel personal, textured, and emotionally alive rather than overly traditional or expected.

An escape from the ordinary always feels like the right place to start.

A Washington DC wedding at Anderson House that doesn’t fully act like one.

The structure is still there.
The heirloom quality is still there.
But the energy shifts.

The couple, with roots in Jamaica and Puerto Rico, weren’t trying to override the space. Just move within it.

A little more warmth.
A little more movement.
A slightly more relaxed rhythm.

This juxtaposition is where it lands.

When a DC wedding holds onto its structure, but makes room for something more personal to come through.

Stowe with a mix of industry professionals.

Fireside dinners. Dirty martinis in the snow. Local ice cream I’m still thinking about, specifically the cherry. Game nights, long ski runs, hosted dinners, a slow day at the spa.

This trip wasn’t about clients. It was planners, photographers, an editor, a stationer. No agenda, no deliverables. Just time together without needing anything from each other.

And that’s exactly the point.

The relationships we have in real life are the ones I cherish the most. The ones where we’ve already spent time together outside of a wedding day. We know how each other works. How someone reacts under pressure. When to step in, when to give space. It’s not something you can fake or rush.

When I’m building a team, it’s not pulled from a generic list. It’s people I’ve actually lived alongside, even if just for a few days like this. There’s trust, there’s shorthand, there’s a rhythm already in place.

You feel that.

Everything moves better when the relationships behind it are real.

This setting near Washington DC gave us space to focus on sculptural fashion and intentional pacing. The palette stays quiet, letting silhouette, light, and movement carry the moment.

This is what I mean when I talk about design that doesn’t shout but still holds attention. Every decision is doing something. The dress, the setting, the way it moves through the space, all working together to create an atmosphere that feels editorial but still grounded in experience.

Tension, movement, and something slightly undone.

This is the space I’m interested in. Where it feels a little cinematic. A little restrained. Where nothing is trying too hard, but everything is intentional.

Most people think a hotel buyout is about privacy.

It’s not.

It’s about shaping the entire experience.

From the moment guests arrive, there’s no interruption in tone.

No outside energy shifting the atmosphere.

No competing events breaking the illusion.

Check in, welcome drinks, dinner, after party, the morning after.

It’s exclusive, yes.

But more than that, it’s immersive.

The energy builds instead of resetting.

Guests don’t just attend, they step into something.

That’s where it starts to feel different.

Erin Go Glam, hosted by and at the new venue in Washington DC, was exactly what the event industry needs more of. Whimsical, surreal, imaginative, and unapologetically fun.

Shout out to my spontaneous hype squad directing from the floor. She fully committed to the role and I could not keep it together.
Captured by , who somehow managed to document the chaos perfectly. Ya’ll are the best.
