Some moments just stay with you.

One of my favorite images of 2024 is this one of Ainsley (slide 3 + 4)—full sprint, wild joy, heart wide open. We had our first session when she was just 18 months old, and now four years and four sessions later, it’s such a gift to see her step into each new season with the same spark. Watching kids grow more comfortable, more free in front of my lens is one of my favorite parts of this work.

This summer, I’ve been intentionally slowing down—reconnecting with my craft by first capturing the beauty unfolding in my own home. We’ve flown to different states, swam for hours, stayed up late with sleepovers and sweet friends, read/discussed books, and embraced the slow and the sacred in between.

I’m still waiting on my daughter’s dance schedule (because dance life runs on surprises šŸ’ƒ), but I hope to release Fall Mini Sessions in the next couple weeks!

For now, I’m savoring the growth, the stories, and the everyday wonder.

I’ve been a little quiet here this past week—thank you so much to my amazing clients for your patience while I stepped away. Our daughter competed at dance nationals and her team placed 2nd in the Grand Finale! It was a beautiful, emotional week surrounded by family, full of joy, tears, and moments I’ll treasure forever. šŸ’›

This time away reminded me why I’m so passionate about photographing families—because these seasons pass quickly, and they’re worth holding onto. Not just the milestones, but the love, the connection, the in-between.

I still can’t get over how the desert light danced around the Benson family at Lost Dutchman—every giggle between siblings, every proud glance from Alexa as she watched her little ones play. As a mom myself, my heart swells seeing these moments frozen in time, reminding me how precious and fleeting childhood truly is. I’m so grateful for the chance to capture your story, Benson crew—you’ve blessed me more than you know. āœØā¤ļø

Swipe to feel their joy, their love, and the desert’s gentle embrace.

Sometimes, rescheduling is the best decision—Monday’s cold winds couldn’t compete with yesterday’s golden sun, and I’m so glad we waited! Capturing this beautiful, loving family as they prepare to welcome their newest addition in May was pure joy. Their sweet girls are not only stunning but also taught me some fun Spanish words—like helado (ice cream) and cosquillas (tickle)! There was no shortage of giggles, cuddles, and sweet sister moments.

Motherhood, family, and the anticipation of new life—it’s what makes these moments so special. Can’t wait to share more from this session!

Brandy and her family met me earlier this month in what is probably my most popular location, Lost Dutchman šŸ“øšŸ’• we hiked, laughed, danced, bribed and everything in between.

Lost Dutchman is the perfect location to capture that jaw dropping mountain, get a little hike in & on most occasions, watch some fearless individuals jump from atop and paraglide throughout!

I find that March/April are the most gorgeous, when the desert is in bloom. Don’t forget to schedule your spring sessions, soon; I am now a, ā€œcompetitive dance momā€ and these competitions are filling my calendar pretty quick šŸ’ƒšŸ˜‰

Sharing this sweet gem of a family on this gorgeous Saturday; similarly ā€˜s personality is just that šŸ’› I remember our first session a few years ago so clearly; an extended family session at the when I was young in my photography career.

Needless to say, I’m so happy seeing your family every year, Reyna! I love that we can connect again so quickly and capture the pure joy of your babies, each time! Can’t wait to see you all this fall šŸ“ø

Happy Friday šŸ‘‹ If you’re new here, welcome—I’m Morgan Ah Leong, the heart behind Prickly Pear Photography LLC šŸ’žI’m a family photographer, but more than that, I’m a wife, a mom of three, and a follower of Christ. My faith shapes the way I see family—as a beautiful gift from God, meant to be cherished and nurtured with intentional love.

Psalm 127:3 reminds us, ā€œBehold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.ā€ In the busyness of life, it’s easy to let moments slip by, but I believe in slowing down and truly seeing the beauty of the season you’re in. That’s why I’m passionate about capturing the small, fleeting moments—the hand-holding, belly laughs, and quiet snuggles that tell the story of your family’s love 🄰

This weekend, I’m taking time to be intentional with my own little crew; we have so much planned this weekend, including dance rehearsals, birthday parties, Girl Scout cookie sales, seminary homework for dad, and our favorite family tradition: the Renaissance festival (yes, we go all in with costumes and turkey legs - maybe I’ll post some photos in my stories throughout the day!). But before we dive into the fun, I’d love to hear from you—how are you making intentional time for your loved ones this weekend? Drop a comment below!*

Sitting here this morning at Press Coffee, working on my Genesis bible study and enjoying an incredible iced americano (you’d know this to be my favorite if you’ve visited my website šŸ˜‰).

It’s mornings like these that make me so grateful for the flexibility that comes with this sweet little profession of mine; though I wouldn’t be here without much support.

My case in point, Tyler and her beautiful family šŸ’• I’ve captured their loving essence for the past four years; post-retirement from the services, prior to the new addition and all the moments in between.

Don’t let busy schedules and apprehensions steer you away from capturing your families. After my post a few days ago, my upcoming spring calendar is starting to fill up. DM or visit the link in my bio for availability today šŸ“ø

HEY THERE, I’M MORGAN

From an early age, the importance of family was always instilled upon me. Growing up, my large family of six, plus my sweet grandmother and uncle all squeezed in a tiny two-bedroom duplex when moving from the Navajo Nation to Tempe. I knew then and there that no matter any circumstance, family will always, and is, the most important non-possessive trait I could possibly attain – we were completely happy & always content.

Fast forward to today, I am married to my best God-fearing friend from high school (go Tempe High Buffs!) and although we have an abundance of blessings, our three children are our most favorite. What I most admire about our life is that, still to this day, we see our family at least three times throughout the week – whether it’s softball games for my favorite niece, happy hour at Rosita’s or thrift shopping with the girls.

Mixing both my passion for family and my non-stop need for creativity, I have focused my photography business primarily on family portraiture. As a mother, I know exactly how the heart yearns to freeze these moments that flutter away so quickly. Having the privilege to document these treasured moments overflows my creative bucket.

In 2014, my thoughtful husband gifted me my first DSLR for Christmas. I often think of this sweet gesture and I’m so grateful for the career path that my passion for documenting has created for our family. Please take a moment to view past galleries and I encourage you to ask me any questions that you may have.
