This is our last week for tulips and then they will be done for the season. It was our first year growing tulips on our farm so we did a small planting. You guys bought every stem - thank you! Next year we will have a much bigger stock.

The stand will still be open with bunches of ranunculus, anemone, as well as lilacs and peonies soon.

We are still cleaning and scrubbing the flower stand from all the rain and dirt of winter, but it should be up and running and stocked with daffodils later this week. Happy spring!

On crisp autumn afternoons like today, we take our children through the orchard to pick the remaining apples and clean the fallen ones from the ground. The orchard is 100 years old, so the trees have reached a height where you can comfortably stand underneath them, reach your hand up and pull an apple down. The leaves are about to give up, and we suspect the last of the apples will fall this week. Winter is in the air.

And the award goes to…

Our best performing dahlia of the season was by far “Linda’s Baby.” She was the first to produce blooms, flowered prolifically, stayed healthy all season, and made a gazillion tubers.

We are still digging and dividing tubers and so far have avoided frost. But it’s coming!
