🎶 What an incredible evening celebrating the rich legacy, influence, and artistry of African American music at the African American Museum of Gaston County’s Celebration of African American Music on June 20th!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary performers who filled Loray Mill with talent, passion, and unforgettable music:
🎹 Bettye Canada, Pianist & Vocalist
🎤 Chriscynethia Floyd, Vocalist
🎹 Bruce Wiley, Pianist
🎤 Stephanie Newman, Vocalist
🎺 The Booker Wilson Band
A special thank you to Museum Director Dot Gutherie for her leadership, vision, and continued partnership. We were honored that she invited Caleb Sisk, Operations Director for Homesteads Events, to share remarks about our ongoing collaboration and commitment to creating meaningful community experiences through events, programming, fundraising, and nonprofit engagement.
As partners, Homesteads Events and the African American Museum continue to work together to provide opportunities for nonprofits, religious organizations, and community groups to host impactful events, celebrations, educational programs, galas, and fundraisers. We are especially excited about upcoming joint programming, including the End of Summer Reading Celebration featuring award-winning author Kelly Starling Lyons at Loray Mill.
Community partnerships like these strengthen our region, preserve important stories, and create spaces where people can gather, learn, celebrate, and give back.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this wonderful evening. We look forward to many more opportunities to serve our community together at Loray Mill and Events on Main.
