Owning a business teaches you a lot about pushing through.
You push through the pain. You push through exhaustion. You push through hurt, disappointment, and sometimes even sadness; because people are depending on you, the job still has to get done, and the business doesn’t stop just because life gets hard.
This past week was one of those weeks.
It started with equipment going down and the normal stresses that come with running a business. Then, in the middle of all the busyness, we suddenly lost our sweet Elsa.
And if I’m being truthful, with everything happening between business and life, it felt like we didn’t even have time to grieve.
Elsa was so much more than “just a dog.” She was family.
She loved us through the ugly. She stayed loyal through the failures, the hard seasons, the long days, and all the ups and downs of life. She never cared about success, money, schedules, or how much we accomplished. She just wanted to be with us.
She was loved so deeply, and somehow she is missed even more.
This season of life has reminded me that success means very little if we are too busy to be present with the people (and the animals) we love most.
That is something I don’t want to forget.
So, 2027 is going to look a lot different for us. We are going to be much more selective about what we take on and how much of ourselves we give away to the busyness of business.
We are incredibly thankful for every person who supports us and trusts us. But we are also learning that sometimes success isn’t about doing more. Sometimes it’s about knowing when to do less so you can be present for what matters most.
Life is short. Time moves fast. And this week was another reminder of why we’ve made the choice to slow down.
We love you, Elsa. Thank you for loving us through every version of ourselves. You were one of a kind, and our home and our hearts won’t be the same without you. ❤️🐾
