A fisherman on South Padre Island recently caught the second-largest hammerhead shark on record in the state of Texas!

Measuring 14.5 feet long, it took nearly an hour to bring the shark to shore before it was released back into the water.

Huge shout out to Galveston Island Beach Patrol for putting in work all around our island, not just on the beachfront.

We almost always hear the news when there is a tragedy along our shores. But we don’t always hear about the preventative actions and rescues that happen much more often this time of year.

Keep up the great work keeping our beaches safe.
