Today is Nana’s 91st birthday. ❤️

At midnight, her closest family gathered at her bedside to sing Happy Birthday and celebrate this incredible milestone with her. As we sang, she smiled as big as she could and lifted her hands to her face. Though she can no longer speak and is unable to cry, we could see every bit of the emotion she was feeling.

Her goal was to make it to her 91st birthday, and by the grace of God, she did.

We are so incredibly grateful that we were able to be there at midnight to welcome in this special day with her. Throughout her hospice journey, Nana has shown remarkable strength. Today, she recognized every voice that called to sing to her and every person who walked up to her bedside. She smiled in her own way, letting us know she understood she was surrounded by the people who love her most.

In an effort to honor Nana’s dignity and privacy during this sacred time, I’m sharing a photo from earlier this year. I chose this particular picture because she is wearing a Dynasty Knot necktie necklace that I made especially for her with a cardinal brooch. It is a sweet reminder of her spirit and one of the many memories I will always treasure. I want to remember and celebrate her as she would want to be seen, while still respecting the very personal journey she is on.

What a precious gift it has been to celebrate 91 years of a life so well lived. Today, our hearts are full of gratitude, love, and the blessing of having this time with her.

This birthday video is just the beginning. 💜

Unfortunately, I know there are so many photos and memories from this birthday that I haven’t received yet, so I’ll be adding more pictures as they trickle in.

What I can say right now is that I am overwhelmed with gratitude. My birthday was filled with so much love from my family, my friends, and this incredible Tribe that has become such a special part of my life. Every message, call, hug, gift, and prayer meant more than you’ll ever know.

A special thank you to Brookie for creating this beautiful song for me. It is such a gift, and I will treasure it forever.

Life has a way of giving us joy and heartache at the same time. While celebrating another year around the sun, I’m also walking through one of the hardest weeks of my life as my grandmother’s journey is coming to an end. It’s a reminder to hold your people close, cherish every moment, and love with your whole heart.

For now, I’m holding it all together with gratitude, faith, and a heart that is so very full.

Thank you for making this birthday one I’ll never forget. ❤️
