So cool!

The oldest exposed layers of rocks in Kansas are located in Cherokee County in the southeastern corner of the state. Places like Schermerhorn Cave expose Mississippian-age rocks along with a bevy of marine fossilized organisms. This part of the state is also the only portion of Kansas that is in the Ozark Region.
