We were honored to host Gainesville High School’s Homecoming on September 26th! Thank you to Gainesville High School for choosing Smithgall Arts Center to celebrate such a special night. We loved being part of the memories made!

The flowers at our front gate were beautifully designed by Enemies of the Average, and were such a perfect touch for the celebration!

Hear from Becky Martin as she shares more about Wellness Wednesday and the peaceful, calming space each class is meant to create. Take a break from the busyness of the week, move your body, and relax, all while supporting a meaningful cause.

Classes are held every Wednesday at the Smithgall Arts Center through October 28th, with every dollar benefiting brain cancer research and the Knox Martin Foundation.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the opening of our Artist Educator Exhibit! We loved seeing our community come together to support the talented educators sharing their creativity beyond the classroom.

A special thank you to our participating artists for sharing their time, talent, and unique perspectives with us. We are so grateful for the educators who inspire others every day and continue to make space for their own creative voices. Thank you as well to everyone who joined us, connected with the artists, and helped make the evening so meaningful!

The exhibit is open through November 13th, Tuesday – Friday from 10AM – 4PM. Admission is free, so come experience these incredible works for yourself!

A little eerie inspiration for the first day of October!

Today we’re highlighting Craig Wilson, University of North Georgia, who is participating in our Artist Educator Exhibit. A collector at heart, Wilson’s work draws from the flora, fauna, folktales, and faith traditions of Southern Appalachia. He creates pieces that feel mysterious, imaginative, and deeply rooted in place.

His featured works, Cardinal Points, General Consensus, and Fun Filter, explore the forces around us, the treasures we collect, and the courage to move through both light and darkness.

Today’s Artist Educator Exhibit spotlight is Jackie Holcomb, a middle school teacher and printmaker whose hand-carved, hand-printed works celebrate little moments that make everyday life special.

From family memories in Vintage C***r to the nostalgic charm of The Plant Shop and the meaningful symbolism behind 613 Seeds, Jackie’s bold lines and rich textures invite us to slow down and take a closer look. Each piece is presented in a custom frame handmade by artisan woodworker Joe Vierthaler.

Visit the Artist Educator Exhibit at the Smithgall Arts Center starting October 2nd through November 13th. Admission is free and open to the public!
