Chic Girls know how to not only decorate a fabulous event, they can plan one as well!

This last weekend we had a Baby Shower and a Sweet 16 in The Citadel Space.

This wasn’t the first time, and I’m sure it won’t be the last, that we celebrated new life and budding adulthood in the same 24 hours.

I have no pictures from the pimped out birthday dance-party, but I do have some pictures of the cute baby shower before guests arrived.

The Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association put on a fun candy hop today that no drizzle could dampen!

The Citadel Space was serving cotton candy for the hop and got a visit from a special bunny.

On March 19, the Fuquay-Varina Town Board adopted an ordinance to establish a social district in Downtown Fuquay-Varina. To date, the state of North Carolina has 59 social districts that have proven to be economic drivers through increased business and downtown foot traffic.

Several steps must occur before activating a social district, including registration with the NC Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission, and installing appropriate signage, which will occur over the next several months.

The Town will inform the public once the social district is active. More information will be provided in April on our website and social media.

Shannon Vanae Volpe (me, that be writing this post) went through the Fuquay-Varina Leadership program in 2020.

I had two young kids at home, no job, and hadn’t found a place to plug in to serve and be a part of our community yet.

I am so grateful that the Leadership program was/is there to give me insight in to our town that I would not have gathered any other way.
I’m so grateful for the network I got plugged in too and the projects I get to see progressing because of citizen Leaders in our local neighborhoods.

In many ways, the Fuquay-Varina Leadership program provided the founding philosophies of The Citadel Space.
Yes, we strive to be profitable financially,
And our main goal is to provide a gathering space for our community to build bridges of connection.

A great crowd tonight as Leadership Fuquay-Varina welcomed the Class of 2024! We also celebrated their 10th year of service and community. Thank you to Ann Marie for her dedication and leadership to this amazing program. Thank you to The Citadel Space for hosting our event!

That’s what we are going to call this layout that seats 24 people with a place for their food and a view of the speaker and main screen.

There are 7 seats (four big comfy spinning chairs) in this space in addition to those 24.

Also provided is a large food serving area
right in the Citadel Room.

We can now proudly say we provide with our service kitchen: plates, glasses and cutlery so our guests can skip the plastic/paper waste.

Tomorrow this arrangement shall be used by Citadel Financial Planning

We learned this afternoon that we can do a 30 minute turnover between events if they are using similar floor plans.

This first event was a Baby shower that had gorgeous (and yummy smelling) flowers on all the tables.

Dining seating for 40 shown off in this video here.

There are 45 seats total in this arrangement.

We had the privledge and pleasure of hosting a surprise 65th birthday party in The Citadel Space Saturday.

The cake had been loaded in to the kitchen, and one bundle of balloons had already arrived when this video tour was quickly snapped.

The music you hear playing is coming from our fantastic Sonos sound system waiting to pump up the jams for your own surprise party.

Today though I will tell you there’s an even better little thought of reason:

We haul out the Trash for you.

Dawson Electric had their company party in The Citadel last night.

A relatively small party as far as parties go and yet there was still a good haul of trash they had the pleasure of leaving behind in the bins for us to manage this am.

Party in the Citadel and you get to leave all that waste behind!

Isabella grew a fantastic beard out of sugar in the Citadel today.

We tried to deliver some sugar beards to the parade viewing podium,
Alas, it’s to humid out for transporting cotton candy that far.

Hot Wassail at the Citadel Space has been a hit during the town Tree Lighting tonight.

There were children about and we couldn’t resist spinning out some hot sugar for all that came through.

Come find us during the parade on Sunday and we’ll be pumping out more Cotton Candy.

Here at The Citadel Space, we are constantly rearranging furniture to suit the needs of the events we are hosting.

Today we went from being set up for an HOA meeting to getting ready for a “Sweet 16” neon dance party.

If you drive down Main Street this night, you may find your eyes drawn to a lot more LED lights in our windows than one would normaly see.

One common question we get that we have not been prepared to answer until yesterday:
How many can the Citadel Space support for a sit-down dinner party?

I can now confidently say, at least 33.

This TEST arrangement of the space can support
sit down diner seating for 33 people.

However, there are an additional 7 seats in this space that could be removed and/or adjusted to make it so at least 4 more can have dinner space.
There’s also a piano (out of sight in this picture) that can be removed to add even more room.

Perhaps we shall get to find that arrangement later today and find our true peak dinner capacity! I’m hoping it’s 40.

When renting the space for a large dinner party, we do highly recommend, really we insist,
that you pay the $150 extra for the space extension.
Then the entire kitchen(already included with Citadel Room) AND lobby can be used for staging food, AND you then have the casual lounge seating of the meeting room and Kid Cave to supplement your dinner party seating.

***The KID CAVE. I will post just about this tomorrow. Yet if you’ve got a Kid coming with you to an event, I’ll let you in on a little secret thats not much of a secret: Shannon Vanae loves kids.
And whether you’ve included the Kid Cave with your rental or not, I’m going to get your kids enjoying that cave because kids NEED a Cave of their own. Now if you’re a grown man trying to sneak the Kid Cave, I’ll kick you right out ;)

How can you book an event in this highly versatile space and earn your right to rearrange the furniture?

You can peruse our calendar on Giggster, and I recommend booking directly with us for these far better prices you are going to read shortly.

All rentals of The Citadel Space include the use of the kitchen, Glass and plastic cups, water dispensers, kegerator (extra charge for beer included), extra adjustable hight folding tables, banquet chairs, sound system, and two very large TVs.

We will arrange the furniture however you ask for your event.

We rent the space in blocks of time to accommodate the set-up and take down of events.
We do the cleaning of the space, and do ask that you haul out any of your own food and items you brought in,
and DON'T YOU DARE DO ANY OTHER CLEANING
Thats our job!

4 Hour Block: $550

8 Hour Block: $800

An additional $150/$300 is needed if you wish to include the entire lobby, Kid-Cave, and Private meeting room with your rental of The Citadel Space
