CGD cook team was hard at it this weekend providing 5 meals over two days to over 200 students, 50 instructors, advisors and staff at the Alabama Fire College during this year’s Fire Explorers Weeknd. It’s always a pleasure to invest in these young lives as they pursue their interest in the fire service.

Thankful for donation. The Blue Spoon Chili Fest brings out in Morris and North Jefferson County.

Once again, Morris was able to donate $4,000 to the Morris Youth Association and $4,000 to the Central Alabama Fire Chief’s association for their ongoing charity works. Thanks to all that sponsored the Chili Fest, those that joined in the cook off, the vendors and those that came to taste all the different chili!🌶️

CGD cook team pulled off a 2nd place people’s choice award at today’s annual Blue Spoon Chili Festival.

A good turnout today with 20 competing teams. Half of today’s proceeds go to the Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association to support our cook team in its mission of providing charity cook events through out the year.

Amanda Thrasher Story: Help us put Brandy's cancer up in smoke!
My sister-in-law, Brandy Williams, was named Chief of the Madison Fire Department. This past May, the position she had dreamed of since she was a little girl came available! No one was more deserving after all the hard work and time she has spent with the Madison Fire Department for 27 years now. A little over a month later on June 23, she was diagnosed with Stage 2, rare form of Triple Negative- Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Breast Cancer. Her doctor told her they needed to act quickly and they made the decision to schedule a double mastectomy on September 17. Five days after her surgery, she received a call saying that one of the biopsied lymph nodes was positive. She is currently waiting on a recommendation to move forward.

If you know Brandy, you know she is a fighter in everything she does.We know this journey will be no different! Cancer is just a chapter in her story, but it will not define her!

We were provided an opportunity to take care of one of our own cook team members family for their wedding rehearsal dinner. Our cook tonight includes Smoked Chicken Thighs, Grilled Chicken Legs, Smoked Bar-B-Que with our award winning Mac & Cheese, Cowboy Beans, and buttery rolls.
