Olaguay: April 17, 7:30pm
Olaguay is made of five friends who come from around the globe, from New York, to Vienna, to Barcelona and back, with one common goal: generate high spirited musical energy that transports you to a different time and place and makes you want to move your body. Their playbook comes from a short-lived era in Tropical music when artists from Colombia, Peru, and Mexico were replacing traditional instrumentation with fuzzy electric guitars, psychedelic sound effects, and analog synthesizers to bring a fresh new sound to the classic Cumbias, Gaitas and Porros. It is Olaguay’s immense pleasure to bring our favorite songs from this immense catalog of obscure gems to new audiences.
