Earlier this week, my best friend of 18 years passed away. In true stubborn Penny fashion, she took her time and fought against the inevitable every stretch of the way.♥️ She was born under the security stations behind Main Street USA, and was originally adopted by a fellow cast member. Much to Michelle’s chagrin, Penny had her own decorating ideas for her adoptive home. Faced with the shelter as her only option, I rescued this terror and ornery feline and added her to my menagerie. She was truly the baby. A brat and mean and usurping all power from the eldest siblings. ♥️ Penny never let you guess whether she liked you or not. She was named for the red headed orphan from The Rescuers, and she never wasted a chance to show us her gratitude and love for saving her. To be blessed with a head bump or an outstretched paw was truly likened to an endowment from the Queen herself. ♥️ Penny was witness to the changing tides of my life in all its paramount ups and direst downs. Yet through all our shared trauma, she loved us just the same. She terrorized our sweet rescue Rey (an 80 lb boxer/pit) to the point where she would tip toe around Penny as not to get the claws again. And in her last 2 years with us, continued the tradition of torment towards our little weener man Kylo. ♥️ The house feels emptier without her big personality. Chairs and beds are less warm. She was the old guard to my old life. The last to me as I was. And I will spend the rest of my days doing right by her. I will take better care of the new wards living with us, and take better care of myself. ♥️ Any of you who had the opportunity to know her will understand what a special creature she truly was….💔
