I said what I said 😂

Guys - there is a BETTER way to take family photos. Please leave the stress behind. The inclination or need for everything to go perfectly. Life isn’t perfect. Your family isn’t perfect. And that’s OK! Let’s lean into that and document you just as you are. Leave it to me to redirect, to move the session along. So that you can leave your stern voice at home and actually enjoy your session.

Here’s what I’ve learned after 12 years of photographing families: sessions don’t unravel because of wild toddler energy. They unravel because of what happens when parents react to it.

The moment a voice rises - even just a sharp “HEY. Look at the camera.” - everything changes. The kids get embarrassed and shut down. The energy in the group tightens. The connection disappears. And connection is the one thing that actually makes a family photo beautiful.

When kids get silly or stop listening during a session, that is my problem to solve. Not yours.

That’s literally my job. I redirect. I pivot. I use a silly voice, change the game entirely, take a snack break, whatever it takes. I’ve handled every kind of toddler, every kind of reluctant big kid, every version of “this is going sideways” - and I’ve never once needed a parent to raise their voice to course-correct.

Cheeky? Fine. Silly? Great. Rambunctious? That’s my cue - not yours.

When you take a breath, let go, and trust me to lead, your kids follow your energy. And that is exactly when the good stuff happens.

Your job is to enjoy your family. Let me do the rest.

There are a lot of totally normal things photographers say during a photo session…but if someone overheard them out of context, they might be a little concerned. 😅

And the funny thing is… I say most of these at almost every family session 😂

Photographers - what’s something you say all the time during sessions that would sound absolutely wild if someone overheard it?

I am not here to guilt you into booking a family photography session.

I am not here to shame you or make you feel bad about all of the things you *want* to do but just can’t find time.

That’s not the game we play around here.

What I AM here to do, is support you. Give a little nudge to say, “you are beautiful just the way you are and you deserve to have gorgeous photographs of you with your family”

I’m here to take stress off your plate by coordinating location, a fabulous wardrobe and a session plan that will make your family actually enjoy your time together.

I’m here to make your kids laugh, make your husband say, “wow - that was way easier than I thought” and to make you relax so that you can revel in your family’s love.
