Way back in da mossy swamps of south Louisiana, folks still whisper ‘bout de Rougarou. When dat full moon rise high over da cypress trees an’ de frogs hush dey song, you best keep yo’ head low. Dey say he’s half-man, half-wolf, cursed long ago for breakin’ Lent, doomed to roam da bayou forever. Some nights, he walk like a man, hidin’ his true face, but when de moon hit right, his body twist an’ change—fur sproutin’, teeth sharp as knives, eyes glowin’ like fireflies in da dark. His growl roll ‘cross de water like thunder, remindin’ all who hear dat he close. Some old-timers swear he guardin’ de swamp, punishin’ them who don’t respect da land. Others say he huntin’ sinners, draggin’ ‘em deep inta da marsh where no man return. Some claim dey seen him straight on, but in dat moonlit mist, de Rougarou always lurks, man or beast, mystery or curse.
