✨Tonight was the Annual Gala fundraiser for Alive at Last. ✨

Alive at Last exists to empower survivors of s*x trafficking and exploitation to live in lasting freedom and discover their God-given purpose. They provide Christ-centered support groups and personal mentorship to women in safe houses and shelters throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Alive at Last is one of the organizations that Alisa Joy Bridal Boutique helps support financially from our profits.

Melanie Ramsey and her husband were also at our table, who is the Founder of Three Daughters’ Events. She is also

Lauren Magiera, the daughter of a dear friend Nancy Magiera, flew 11-hours from Alaska to purchase her dress from Alisa Joy Bridal Boutique. In April 2016, Lauren made history by joining WGN Chicago News team as the station’s FIRST female sports anchor and reporter. Today, she holds the esteemed position of Marketing Director for Alaska’s News Source, the local NBC and CBS affiliates. It was an absolute honor to host Lauren for a weekend with her mother. We thoroughly enjoyed our time together!

I had the privilege of being a guest on a podcast last week titled “Noisy Narratives.” The podcast was hosted at the Frisco First Baptist Church on Main Street.

I finally read the biography of St. Valentine.

Way more to his story, but a short summary below:
"They say Valentine's Day is about roses, chocolate, and candlelight.
But it began with blood.
In the 3rd century, under the harsh rule of Emperor Claudius II, Rome was desperate for soldiers. The emperor believed single men fought better than married men, so he banned young men from marrying.
Love was declared illegal.
A priest named Saint Valentine refused to accept that. Quietly, in hidden rooms, he joined Christian couples in marriage. No applause. No decorations. Just vows whispered before God and Aiding He believed love was not weakness.
He believed marriage was sacred.
He believed no emperor had authority over a covenant sealed by God.
They arrested him. He died a martyr on February 14th".
