We’re officially just days away from one of our favorite weekends of the year—Pretzel City Brewfest! 🍻 Happening this Saturday from 1–5pm (with VIP entry kicking off at 12pm), this year brings 150+ craft beer flavors from local breweries and home brewers, plus live music, stein-hoisting contests, food trucks, and more. Once again, The Exchange is proud to host the VIP Lounge in our event space, The Locale. Hosting an event at The Locale? Good news – we offer a BYOB liquor license! That means you can bring in your own alcohol with just a couple of easy steps. We want you to take advantage of this option, but to keep everything compliant and running smoothly, here’s what you’ll need to do at least 30 days before your event:

🥃 BASSET Certification – Anyone serving alcohol must be BASSET certified and follow Illinois liquor laws. This ensures a safe and responsible event (plus, it’s the law!). Make sure to designate someone you trust for this role.

✅ One-Day Event Liability Insurance – The City of Freeport requires a $1,000,000 liability policy with Chicago Port Authority LLC listed as “additional insured.” This is an extra layer of protection for your event.

💡 Pro Tip: This policy can often be added to your homeowner’s insurance for about $150 or purchased as a standalone policy for around $500. Our preferred agent is Gretchen Rackow at Bussian Insurance (815-541-2881 | [email protected]), but you’re welcome to use any provider of your choice.

✨ Our goal is to help you host a fantastic event with BYOB – we just need to make sure everything is done correctly! To keep this option available, both the BASSET certification and insurance policy must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
