Today's moment of hilarity came after the big kiss of wedding #3. The dozen or so guests struggled with their confetti cannons, so they all went off at random intervals. The last one, the biggest one, finally went off with a big ¡POP! and filled the room, not with confetti, but with pink powdery mist from a gender reveal cannon. We were all shocked into silence for a split second until someone shouted, "¡Es una niña!" ("It's a girl!")

And that's a wrap for 2024! 80 couples did me the honor of entrusting me with their special day. This one was my favorite, and not just because the bride is a friend. Their original date was in October, but Hurricane Helene displaced them and destroyed the wedding venue outside of Asheville. Their talented photographer, Andrea-Marie Photography, suggested Cloudland Canyon State Park in NW Georgia, so we rescheduled for December. The rain held off just long enough for the ceremony, and the scenery was spectacular. Hurricane Helene was strong, but true love is stronger.

A heartfelt Thank You to all the happy couples, and best wishes and blessings to everyone for the new year!

And that's a wrap for June! I officiated my first wedding 24 years ago, but this month marked 5 years on the City of Fredericksburg official list of Marriage Commissioners. I did 14 weddings just this month, bringing me to 58 so far this year. For the past 2 years, the bulk of my couples have been native Spanish speakers, a niche I fell into rather accidentally but embrace wholeheartedly. Never once did I imagine that this avocation would lead to me learning a new language, and I'm so pleased to be able to offer my ceremonies to this fantastic and welcoming community. And because love is love in any language, I can do my Spanish ceremonies for gay and le***an couples. 🌈 A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way, and to so many beautiful couples for trusting me with their special moments. 💕

Love was blooming, along with the tulips, for Melissa and Anthony's ceremony last weekend. The gardens are Chatham Manor are spectacular this time of year, and as always, you can't beat this view of the city. This is my favorite place for micro weddings and elopements.
