Hovis Country Florist A Family Legacy — Your Full‑Service Flower and gift shop in Franklin for Every Occasion: Weddings, Sympathy, and Every Celebration in Between.

Delivering the art of floral design with heart and craftsmanship straight to your doorstep. Florist – A Legacy

Hovis Country Florist is more than a flower shop — it’s a continuation of a family legacy. My grandmother, Hovis Country Florist is more than a flower shop — it’s a continuation of a family legacy. My grandmother, Thelma P. Hovis, began her career in the floral industry when she owned a

nd operated Phillips Flowers on Elk Street, after selling Phillips flowers it was later relocated to Liberty Street by the new owner. Where it thrived for many years. My grandmother went on to open Hovis Country Florist in Sandy Lake, which she lovingly ran until her retirement. As a teenager and young adult, I spent countless hours working alongside my grandmother, aunts, and other family members, learning not only the craft of floral design but also the joy of serving others through flowers. In 2003, when my husband joined the United States Air Force, we began a 20-year journey across the country. During our first duty station in Cheyenne, WY, I worked at one of the city’s finest shops, The Prairie Rose, where I created everything from simple bouquets to elaborate arrangements for weddings, government events, and much more. Each day brought something new, and I cherished the opportunity to grow my skills. Throughout our travels, whenever we returned home to Pennsylvania, I was often asked to design arrangements for family gatherings, weddings, and funerals. Even when scrambling for flowers and containers, I loved every moment of creating something meaningful. In 2022, after my father’s passing, I designed the flowers for his memorial service. That experience planted the seed of opening my own shop. Three years later, while creating arrangements for a very close family friend’s memorial service, I realized I was ready to share my artistry beyond moments of grief. “I told my husband, I was tired of only doing this when someone close passes away. Many friends and family encouraged me, saying repeatedly that I needed to open a flower shop. Now, I am stepping away from the corporate world of emails, meetings, and conference calls to follow in my grandmother’s footsteps. With faith in God, the support of family and friends, and a deep love for floral artistry, I am proud to bring Hovis Country Florist to Franklin, PA. This shop is built on legacy, love, and the belief that flowers can make every occasion — joyful or solemn — more meaningful. I am humbled and excited to share this journey with my community.

💕Friday night lights💕

🏈✨ There’s something special about Friday night football in a small town! 💙❤️

Tonight, Franklin and Oil City meet at the Castle for the Route 8 Rivalry, and it’s about so much more than football. ⚔️🛢️

It’s watching the cheerleaders hit the sidelines and the marching band take the field. It’s kids running around the stadium with their friends while parents catch up in the stands. It’s the smell of concession stand fries, the roar after a touchdown, and seeing teachers, grandparents, alumni, and neighbors all packed together cheering for their hometown.

These are the little things that make a community feel like home. 💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️

📍 Franklin High School • The Castle
⏰ Kickoff at 7 p.m.

Bring the kids. Find your friends. Get the cheese fries. Cheer for your local students. Don’t hear about it tomorrow. BE HERE tonight!

We want to know: KNIGHTS ⚔️ or OILERS 🛢️for the win tonight?!

🫶🏻A BIG thank you to everyone who played a part in getting this step of construction project completed!

Well done to everyone who had a hand in making it happen! It was so great to see everything back open and traffic flowing again. We truly appreciate all the hard work!

Liberty and 15th streets in Franklin reopened ahead of schedule Wednesday, allowing traffic to pass smoothly over freshly paved and lined streets.

The closure, which began at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, had originally been scheduled to wrap up Thursday morning. From the time it closed, PennDOT staff worked around the clock and through the night to ensure they met their deadline, and, with the cooperation of a stretch of mild weather, they finished things up sometime after noon on Wednesday.

According to a press release from PennDOT press officer Jill Harry, construction along the route would be continuing even with the routes reopened, and she urged motorists to exercise caution when traveling through the area.

The streets had been closed as part of the Route 62/Route 322 Improvement Project, also known as the Liberty Street Betterment Project, and separate detours had been put in place for passenger and commercial vehicles respectively.

According to previous information from PennDOT, the full closure had been necessary as they had to fully excavate and replace the old road — including the layer of brick underneath the asphalt from Franklin's earlier days. The work also served to widen the corners at the intersection of Liberty and 15th streets to help minimize off-tracking from larger trucks making the turn. https://www.thederrick.com/news/front_page/liberty-15th-streets-reopen-ahead-of-schedule-in-franklin/article_6176291c-9803-4222-bb5b-61a7737b2b47.html
