A letter from our artistic director, Ann Sears:
Dear liveARTS Friends,
Having launched our 2024-2025 concert series with the marvelous pianist Michel Lewin, we next welcome our very own liveARTS String Quartet in a wide ranging program that includes Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga's String Quartet No. 1 in D Minor and William Grant Still's Danzas de Panama, along with Tchaikovsky's String Quartet No. 1 in D Major, Op. 11. Please join us for this concert at The Meetinghouse of the First Universalist Society in Franklin, 262 Chestnut St., Franklin, MA on Sunday, November 10 at 3pm. This beautiful space is easily accessible for all, and free parking is near the building and plentiful. Tickets at 25.00 can be purchased through the liveARTS website or at the door the day of the concert.
In preparation for the upcoming concert, we offer an interview with Don Krishnaswami conducted by new liveARTS board member Dennis Ferguson about the early years of the liveARTS concert series and the magical experience of playing in and hearing string quartets in live performance.
The liveARTS String Quartet was started by Don Krishnaswami, founding artistic director of liveARTS, and by Paula Barthel, who was both the founder of liveARTS and a generous patron of the series for many years. Organizing and supporting a string quartet is an unusual mission for a small, regional concert series, and it bespeaks a vision for the cultural life of our local area and an understanding of this important chamber music form in the greater musical community. The quartet has appeared in many years of the series, and we are delighted to be able to present them again this year.
We look forward to seeing you Nov. 10.
Until then, enjoy the music!
Ann Sears
