🔵 Micro Blue Moon 🔵

Tomorrow's Full Moon (09.45 in London) is a Blue Moon, the 2nd in May. It is a micromoon, at its farthest away from Earth.

The Full Moon is powerful of course, but on a personal note, the Blue Moon doesn't hold any extra magical significance for me than our other Full Moons. I like to live my life by the moon phases, not the dates on a calendar.

The Blue Moon is merely a second full moon in the month according to our Gregorian calendar which was introduced in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII, a long time after our pagan roots which are centuries older than this.

Families - There's More in May
Join Otsego Master Gardeners for this two-part series focused on beginner gardening topics and ways to engage the whole family. Help to plant a Victory Garden, learn gardening strategies, and enjoy this time to grow food and family bonds.

Part 1: Wednesday, May 20 (4:30 pm- 6:30 pm)
Part 2: Wednesday, July 15 (4:30 pm-6:30 pm)

Programs will be held at the CCE Demonstration Garden (123 Lake Street, Cooperstown NY). Families can sign up for one for both programs. This event is ideal for families with children between 3-11 years old. Please be sure to sign up for EACH child that is attending so we can be sure to have enough supplies!

🥶 Don’t Shoot The Messenger… but widespread frost potential is increasing for early Tuesday morning across the 607.

If skies are able to clear out for even a few hours overnight, temperatures could quickly drop into the low to mid 30s with some of the colder valleys flirting with freezing.

Areas east of I-81 along with the typical colder sheltered valleys will have the best chance at seeing a thicker layer of frost by sunrise Tuesday morning. 🌿❄️

Also worth noting… May 11th marks the official start of the growing season across much of the Southern Tier and Central New York, meaning Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings may now start being issued by the National Weather Service for many areas.

Still a couple things to iron out regarding cloud cover and wind, but gardeners and anyone with sensitive plants should definitely keep an eye on the forecast over the next 24-36 hours.
