Today we’re announcing that after two years of helping people discover the joys of premium wood-fired pizza, we will be shutting down Fred’s Best at the end of the month. Our last event will be Friday, August 29 from 4-8 PM at Timeless Pints brewery in Long Beach.
Just over two years ago, we set out to create a unique way to share great pizza with the world. We believed that premium-ingredient pizza fresh from a wood-fired brick oven could transform people’s expectations about what this dish had to offer. That people simply didn’t know that pizza could taste so much better than anything they’d had in the past. That once they discovered the wonders of a truly great tasting pizza, people would always insist on nothing but the best.
Along the way we created Fred’s Best and feel that we largely proved these things to be true. We’re proud of the gourmet pizzas we produced, but even more so, we’re grateful for the community of customers and advocates that sampled our pies and spread the word to help the business - and the message about gourmet pizza - grow. Your passion created new opportunities and great memories for our whole team.
Sadly, our story ends here, but we hope your love of fine pizza will not. We simply failed to create a sustainable way of spreading the gospel of great pizza to a wider audience. For this, we’re deeply sorry. We considered every option before making the difficult decision to shut down, to take a step back from that love of fine pizza that brought us together.
We’re proud of the community that rallied around us and delighted to know that many of you are now hooked on premium pizza. Thank you for supporting us and contributing to this experiment in great pizza evangelism. Keep insisting on nothing but the best!
