Local Foods Kitchen has evolved with the help of family and friends supporting Chef/ Owner Katie Schma to create a kitchen that cooks and serves food encompassing the knowledge and experience she has gained through years in the food and hospitality industry. As a kitchen in progress, Local Foods Kitchen is focused on developing small-batch soup, salads, sides, sweets, sandwiches, and entrees, using the freshest local and regional ingredients, as well as Certified Humane Raised & Handled® lamb, beef and poultry. Katie draws inspiration from the flavors of her past and revitalizes them with the highest quality, farm-raised and seasonal ingredients. Katie has been involved with restaurants, catering, and cooking food for others all of her life. Growing up in Carmel, California, her mother frequently entertained and prepared meals for a family of six children and large parties, which gave Katie the introduction to a culinary passion that has carried with her through the years. Having had a grandfather as a farmer/rancher in California and a mother as a restaurateur, instilled in her the foundations to the simple principles of food for their kitchen - always look for the best sources of ingredients and have local farmer connections for produce and meats. It tastes better. Coupled with her beginnings and the culinary knowledge she acquired, she is now showcasing her foods whether Chef-crafted sandwiches and salads, customized, fully prepared, or catered in your home or office. Ready-to-go for you to enjoy in the cafe or packaged for you to take home. Katie and her professional offsite servers and chefs are also available to bring these great foods to you. Katie and her Local Foods Kitchen are not reinventing or recreating foods, they are cooking creative, convenient, good foods that are colorful, fresh, natural, wonderfully flavored and easy – for those times when you don’t feel like cooking or for when you simply just don’t have time!
