One thing we WOULD NOT SKIMP ON: Wedding Insurance! There’s tons of areas to cut costs but we HIGHLY recommend wedding insurance!
So what is wedding insurance & why is it important?
People get wedding insurance to protect their investment in case of unexpected events that could lead to financial loss. Weddings involve significant expenses, and insurance provides peace of mind by covering unforeseen issues.
Common Reasons for Wedding Insurance:
1. Venue Issues
• The venue cancels or goes out of business before the wedding.
• Damage to the venue makes it unusable (fire, flooding, etc.).
2. Vendor No-Shows or Cancellations
• Caterers, florists, photographers, or DJs fail to show up or cancel last minute.
• The vendor goes bankrupt before delivering services.
3. Weather Disruptions
• Severe weather (hurricanes, blizzards, wildfires) forces postponement.
• Outdoor weddings become unfeasible due to extreme conditions.
4. Illness or Injury
• The bride, groom, or immediate family member becomes seriously ill.
• An accident prevents key individuals from attending.
5. Property Damage or Loss
• Wedding attire, rings, or decorations get stolen or damaged.
• Rental items (chairs, linens, décor) are damaged, leading to unexpected costs.
6. Military or Job-Related Cancellations
• Active-duty military deployment requires postponement.
• The couple or a key family member gets an unexpected job transfer or work emergency.
7. Liability Protection
• Covers injuries at the wedding (e.g., a guest falls and sues).
• Protects against alcohol-related incidents (some venues require liquor liability insurance).
What Wedding Insurance Doesn’t Cover
• Change of heart (cold feet) – If someone decides not to marry, insurance won’t reimburse costs.
• Poor vendor performance – It won’t cover dissatisfaction with services received.
Types of Wedding Insurance:
• Cancellation/Postponement Insurance – Covers lost deposits if the event is called off for a covered reason.
• Liability Insurance – Protects against injuries, property damage, and alcohol-related claims.
• Property & Theft Coverage – Protects wedding attire, rings, gifts, and rental items.
Cost of Wedding Insurance:
• Basic Policies: $100 – $500 (for liability coverage).
• Comprehensive Policies: $300 – $1,000+ (includes cancellation, postponement, and vendor issues).
