Most clients hand us a schedule. The ones who get the most out of their event content hand us a shot brief. There is a real difference, and it starts before we pack a single case.
So what is a shot brief?
A shot brief is a pre-event document that maps every content deliverable to a specific marketing goal: who needs to see each image or clip, which platform it is heading to, and what story it must tell. All defined before the event begins.
It is more than a run of show or a capture list. A shot brief is a marketing brief with a camera in the room.
Here is why it matters. Without one, even technically strong coverage produces content that fades fast. With one, every frame has a job to do after the event ends.
For a national conference client, our shot brief identified three audience segments who each needed different visual proof the event happened: sponsors, future attendees, and internal stakeholders. One event, one plan, built before we arrived.
The right question is not what will happen at this event. It is what does your marketing team need to say on Monday morning, and what footage will let them say it? 📷
