TODAY!!! We have a matinee of MR BURNS at 2:30!! Join us for the play that features TV's favorite cartoon family, and the evolution of storytelling.

The grid has failed, society has crumbled, and to hold back the darkness, a ragtag group of strangers gather around a campfire to recreate their vanished world through the life-affirming act of storytelling. Whether you’ve never seen The Simpsons or you know every episode by heart, you will be electrified by this love letter to live theatre and hymn to survival and resilience.

Mr. Burns is an exhilarating exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.

There will be singing and dancing and fire and poison and jazz hands and Sideshow Bob and crocodiles and piranhas and passion and pageantry and Gilbert and Sullivan and darkness and devastation. But when all hope is lost - there will be Bart.

MR. BURNS, written by Anne Washburn and directed by Steve Keim, runs weekends September 19 - October 12. Friday and Saturday at 7:30, and Sundays at 2:30.

Bar Bleu will be open serving beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.

Tickets are only $20 and will sell out fast! Visit www.basbleu.org or call the box office at 970-498-8949 to get your tickets today.

Meet Bruce Gammonley. Bruce plays Matt and Homer. We asked Bruce the following questions:

How do you relate to your characters?
Like Matt, I am a big Simpsons fan and enjoy bonding with others over TV and other media.

Do you have a favorite moment from rehearsal?
Hearing Act III come together really brought a whole new sense of power and energy to the show!

How do you connect to your characters?
Creating a person history and graphic of their relationships to the other characters helps solidify who they are.

What is the biggest challenge about performing in this show?
Each act of the show is such a different animal. Even within each scene there are a number of emotional turns that present a real challenge.

What motivates your characters?
Matt is motivated by a desperate desire to return to some semblance of society. His Life is defines by connection to others and he pursues this through shared media.
Home is a warm protector of his family (unlike in The Simpsons). He tries to find the best in every scenario, and represents hope for a better future.

Without giving anything away, what is your favorite line of dialogue?
"I think he's talking to you."

Besides yourself, which actor in this production is going to blow people away?
Brett's Mr. Burns is oozing with camp and malice.

If you could play any other role in the show, who would it be?
Each of the characters are so interesting! Ann Washburn's script is so unique that playing each of the characters is a pleasure!

We love joining Captain Sue Sutton on the morning cruise!

One of my favorite Bas Bleu directors stopped by to invite us to their new play,or is it a musical? Steve Keim is directing "Mr Burns," a 3-act play with stories about the Simpsons and the people who tell them.

Let's set the scene: The grid has failed, society has crumbled, and to hold back the darkness, a ragtag group of strangers gather around a campfire to recreate their vanished world through the life-affirming act of storytelling. Whether you’ve never seen The Simpsons or you know every episode by heart, you will be electrified by this love letter to live theatre and hymn to survival and resilience.

Pay what you will this Friday night and the opening reception is Saturday. Tickets just $20 Bas Bleu Theatre Company https://www.basbleu.org/

MR. BURNS, by Anne Washburn and directed by Steve Keim, opens this weekend! Pay-what-you-will preview on Friday Sept 19, and Opening Night on Saturday, Sept 20.

It is time to meet the Cast. Meet Trisha Gillin. Trisha plays Colleen/Lisa. We asked Trisha the following questions:

How do you relate to your characters?
Like Colleen, I also have trauma and won't take s**t from anyone. I'm also a parent and used to wrangling pre-teens, which is a lot like managing actors.

Do you have a favorite moment from rehearsal?
I've loved how well everyone works together and how we've all been developing our characters and their relationships, and feeding off each other. It's been very collaborative , and everyone has had great insights and ideas.

How do you connect to your characters?
I get into colleen's head space, I imagine that I'm in the Last of Us universe. Even in the moments of calm, there is always an underlying threat.

What is the biggest challenge about performing in this show?
The music. I love the songs, but they are hard! It's no Music Man, that's for sure!

What motivates your character?
colleen is a survivor, so she is motivated by basic needs. She makes decisions to keep herself and her group safe, fed etc. That said, she will also be ready to drop anyone who is a dead weight.

Without giving anything away, what is your favorite line of dialogue?
"He discovers he's s**tting his pants"

Besides yourself, which actor in this production is going to blow people away?
Karis blows me away every time.

If you could play any other role in the show, who would it be?
Maria.
